Uranus |
|
| Uranus is a
unique planet because of its 98-degree tilt and its blue-green
appearance, but because it is so far from Earth, it is difficult to
study. Scientists do know that the tilt of its axis of rotation means that a season on Uranus can last 20 years, and while orbiting, we can see one of its poles head-on. Uranus' atmosphere is made up of hydrogen, helium, and methane. Temperatures on the planet are very cold and cold methane gas creates a thin cloud layer giving the planet its blue-green hue. Uranus has eleven dark rings and 27 naturally-occurring satellites. |
