Saturn |
|
| Saturn is a
large gas planet made mostly of hydrogen, helium, and methane. Saturn rotates on its axis at such high speeds that the planet, having no solid surface, flattens out at the poles and bulges at the equator. The NASA orbiter, Cassini, is studying the intriguing features of Saturn's system of rings and moons. Cassini, the first spacecraft to orbit Saturn, is helping scientists at NASA make many important discoveries. Scientists believe the rings are made up of debris from natural satellites of many different sizes, from the size of small pebbles to the size of a house. Saturn has at least 34 moons, and Cassini will deliver the European Space Agency's Huygens Probe into the atmosphere of Saturn's largest moon, Titan. |
