To print a Coloring Page of Oviraptor, Click Here Oviraptor Oviraptor lived in Mongolia and North America during the Late Cretaceous Period. It was seven feet (2 m) long and weighed between fifty and seventy-five pounds (23-34 kg). Walking on two long, slender legs, it used its three long fingers to grasp prey and branches. Sharp claws allowed it to tear apart prey, but it also ate plants using toothless but muscular jaws that were good for crushing. It was mistakenly named Oviraptor, or “egg snatcher,” because it was discovered near eggs believed to be another dinosaur’s; in fact, the eggs were its own. On its short and deep skull was a large crest and nasal cavity that allowed better hearing and protection against hot desert wind. Notes: IMPORTANT:
