Although it was not able to fly, the Caudipteryx is closely related to modern-day birds. Weighing just ten pounds (4.5 kg) and standing two to three feet (1 m) off the ground, this bird-like dinosaur had long legs for running and walking. It was covered in feathers. Dark and light tail stripes can be seen on Caudipteryx fossils. Caudipteryx had weak teeth. It was found with gizzard stones in its stomach for breaking down food plants and insects.
