It was covered in hard bony plates, spikes on each side, and horns on its head that protected its thick skin from the attacks of its carnivorous enemies. It swung its long, spiked tail like a club to defend itself. Walking on four legs, the Ankylosaurus ate low-lying plants and grew up to thirty-five feet (11 m) long and eleven feet (3 m) tall. Tough defenses helped the Ankylosaurus survive in North America through both the Cretaceous and Late Jurassic Periods; it was one of the last dinosaurs to become extinct. Notes: IMPORTANT:
