Frogs are
one of over 3,000 different species of amphibians. Frogs, like toads, can live
in water and on land.
Their sizes, shapes, and colors vary considerably so they can adapt
to almost any kind of environment. They are found almost anywhere:
the rain forest, mountains, deserts, and waters all over the world!
Almost all frogs are meat-eaters that swallow their food whole.
Therefore, the size of the prey will depend on the size of the
frog’s mouth.
While small species will satisfy themselves with worms, snails, or
insects, larger species of frogs will enjoy birds, mice, or even
other frogs.
One of their special hunting techniques is to catch
flying insects with their long and sticky tongue.
Most frogs mate in the water and lay a very large number of eggs (up
to 250,000 in a lifetime). A jelly-like substance surrounds the eggs to
protect them against any possible danger.
Do you know why French people are referred to as frogs? Well, that is
because the French enjoy eating frog legs. With a good recipe you
can make wonders!!! By the way, French people also eat snails!
